Zi Wei Dou Shu has the unique ability to pin point the innate abilities and potentials of a person. A skilled Master can tell a person's character, his or her skills and abilities, how do others perceive him or her and how they interact with their surroundings. This is very useful as it may open doors that even he or she did not know existed. Not only does it tell you what is to come but what is here and now, inside of you.

It is believed that Zi Wei Dou Shu was written down during the Tang Dynasty and made popular during the Sung Dynasty in ancient China . A Zi Wei Dou Shu reading consists of 12 palaces (see sample), in which each represents one significant aspect of a person's life. This highly complex chart is plotted into a destiny analysis chart.

Although our lives are predominantly mapped out by fate, we are still sentient beings with independent thoughts. We make our own decisions and this too plays a role in shaping our destiny. Zi Wei Dou Shu can help us map out our life paths. Infinite as they may be, it gives a view of the probable paths or routes that we will eventually walk.

Imagine you are walking down a narrow path and come across a puddle of water. If you were not paying attention you would have walked right into the puddle and made a mess of yourself. But if you did know, you can decide to walk through it, walk around it, jump over it or just turn around. Zi Wei Dou Shu can help you see these probable events in the future. ABOUT THE I-CHING The I-Ching can probably go on the shelf marked “Oldest Books on Earth.” The Chinese character “yi” is made up of two characters sun and moon symbolizing the universal law of constant change from night to day, summer to winter, life to death. Because of this, the I-Ching is also called the Book of Change. It was said that Fu His, the legendary ruler of China, discovered eight trigrams on the shell of the tortoise. The trigram being an individual combination of lines and dashes (solid – male or yang; broken – female or yin) form the backbone of the 64 hexagrams, which make up the I-Ching. Now the 64 hexagrams are inscribed into image cards. The I-Ching system works by applying the meanings of the images of the drawn card to predict the future. The I-Ching guides us to be who we are – “the enlightened one” who is moral, righteous, honest, good and kind to all living things. Hence the advice it gives is of the highest order to put us on the path of greatest personal growth. The I-Ching does not encourage otherwise. The I-Ching suggests and teaches. Ambiguous questions should be avoided, e.g. “What will happen to me?” or “Will I be rich?” The inquirer needs to be more specific. Also, questions phrased precisely, e.g. “How will it affect me if I took on this new job?” will get more concise answers. With some questions, one may apply a time factor, e.g. “How will me relationship with Mary develop over the next three months.” The I-Ching works on a deep level and the enquirer should be prepared to be mindful during its consultation.
